Well... With blankets, cooler box, a flask of coffee and a bottle of champagne... we took of for Lake Hood - A place that looks like a nice spot to live...

Took the boat for a dip in New Zealand waters... all went very well - and we took some video... I have uploaded to You Tube , http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hVoPZ0ijcMQ
You can see what a difference the boat is going like... with the new nozzle (jet-a-vator) we now have a rooster tail.... It looks really cool. There is also a new reverse bucket - that works so well, so Adrian is very happy.

I will be back onto this site by next week, and will upload more video of our day out and of Troy of course.

February in Timaru...

Well we moved down to Timaru and it is a really nice place... small - but not too small.. our house we are renting is cosy.. rooms are a nice size - the kitchen is small - we have had to put the microwave on top of the fridge.

The garden is big - and we are getting a garden service in - they charge $nz35 fortnightly... which isn't so bad.. you can see in the photo's how much lawn there is..

Rubish days are on Thursdays... we have 3 bins - green for garden refuse, food waste and anything that can be broken down, the red one is for none recyclable things, and the yellow one for paper, plastic, bottles etc.... quite a change.. you have to really be dilagent in how you do your rubbish.

Diesel is about $nz1.25 per litre and petrol is $nz1.72. The Delica takes diesel.

Troy is having alot of fun - going to parks, swimming at Caroline Bay, going to the beach.. I am looking to take him to a kindergarden - just for about 6 hrs a week.. he needs to socialise and I need a break too.

We got some wood delivered the other day - after asking around about the types of wood to burn and about how much we would need - we have been told that we would(wood) use about 8 cubic meters of wood for winter... now that is a normal kiwi - I think we would use a bit more than that. Anyway - so I phone and order 5cubes... and the guy delivers it - It is a Sh*t load of wood.. As you can see the pics... and the guys says they don't help to load it under the house - Adrian was at work and I at home with Troy... Well - It was all sorted - I packed what I could and then when Adrian came home we did the rest.. So it's all under the house now - and as you see - we have a lot of space under the house too.

What I realised is - most households have fireplaces.. and if each burns 8 cubes -- that is 1) a whole lotta wood - and 2) that is why the ozone is so buggered here!!! - I have been told that by 2010 or so - there are not allowed to be fires anymore - I think that should happen sooner.. I bet this place gets really smokey in winter - will let you know.

Our House and Garden in Christchurch

Well - I arrived at night time - which was actually day time in South Africa, so Troy was not ready sleep at all.... had a cup of coffee and a smoke - and went outside to look at the stars... and I saw a shooting star!! - must be good luck hey?

The house and garden are really nice, Troy took about 4/5 days to get settled in to a good sleeping routine. He has a racing car bed... which he climbs out of quite easily and we had some tough nights to get him to stay there.... but he seems fine now.

It is a 3 bedroom house, one room is a play room for Troy. We have a laundry too for the washing machine and tumble dryer.

There is not too much grass to cut - and the house came with an old fashioned mower - which Adrian got down to mowing with quite well - and Troy even helped too!!

Troy statically charged after jumping in his jump-o-lene!! - When I go to pick him up - I get a shock....

These are our cars... we first got the Pajero... and it is really nice... but Adrian has see the Delica and really likes the look of it and we got it about a week ago from a German couple who have been cycling around the world for about 2 years and are leaving NZ in about 5 days to continue on - so we got it a a great deal... and have already tinted the windows with 95% tinting... and it looks really mean.... the wheels are quite cool - will save and get some mags etc.... it looks like a moon truck.

Hi guys - well sorry this has taken a little long to get to the second post - but as you know - a shit load has been happening.
Well - I left Durban - only to climb on the plane get settled with Troy and then be called back to security to get my travel pouch from security with all my money, passports, rings etc.... so all the way back there - and back to the plane.... in Jhb all good - except when we wanted to take off - we were delayed for a whole hour waiting on the plane - first the retractable platform couldn't retract - then the tow /push vehicle couldn't unhook - oh well... goodbye Africa....

On the plane - Troy was a little wild to start with, but a happy wild - also hard to keep him in our chair for the delay... I gave him some of those drops to help him relax... and we took off. I had a seat spare next to me - which was I think the only one - and troy slept in the cot thing attached to the wall. He slept there the whole flight and only woke a hour before we landed.

Sydney was a blur - because we were delayed - we had to get through security and walk quite far through the terminal to get to the boarding gate... On the flight to Christchurch - Troy was quite sleepy and I had our whole row of four seats to ourselves... but then Mr decided this was the perfect time to empty his system - I think I changed him 4 times... in a little toilet.

We arrived in Christchurch at around 1030 - and still changed troy on arrival... before getting to immigration - that went okay - and got our bags and met Adrian on the other side.

Adrian has left the building... :-(

I have created this blog page for all our friends and family to log on - read about what we are up to - see pics of where we are - where we stay etc, so add this to your favorites - and log in now and again to catch up - and leave messages if you want.

And so this chapter of our lives start....

Well, it was a very sad day for all in the family and all our friends.... but as we all know it is for the greater good.

We finally got everything packed the night before for Adrian, and only got to sleep at about 12pm... the Mr Troy wasn't well and kept us awake until we decided to get up before the alarm... around 0500. We met with Errol, Dale & Charlene and Dean at the air-port and Elise also came.... after having something to eat and chatting too long - we went to boarding - where we hear they are paging Adrian.... All hugged and said goodbye and he went through the gates.

We spoke to him a little later - and he said that he showed the gate attendant the ticket and she showed him where to go - he boarded the plane - and the flight attendant politely told him he was on the wrong plane - so he got off that one and dashed off to the correct plane and found everyone waiting for him.

Right now he is still on a plane, and will only get there late toningt - our time.... so will have to wait and see how the rest of the flight went.

I am here for another 3 weeks and will be flying direct to Sydney with Troy - boy - I hope that goes well.... Also for future bogging - you can read about that then.
